Debra Luker is a highly creative artist and stylist whose insatiable energy delivers the unexpected. She uses her layered sketchbooks to draw and observe, capturing spontaneous moments and a feeling of a place or object.
Finding colour everywhere, Debra has a curiosity for the world around her. She travels widely, with a particular passion for India, and brings an eclectic outlook to everything she creates – always with a pinch of the unpredictable.
Fascinated by found objects, folklore, Islamic textiles, nature and travel, Debra’s art shows her passion for the texture, pattern, her obsession with colour, drawing, and collage. Life drawing is another important part of her practice within which she continues to experiment with material and process.
Judith’s abstract painting uses the notion of alchemy, a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination, to respond visually to her environments and life experiences. On a search for strength and freedom, she channels the immediacy of mark-making from life-drawing, sketches and collages into abstraction.
Having studied fine art at university she has gone on to have several group and solo exhibitions, the most recent of which was at One Paved Court Gallery in Richmond showing recent work from a trip to India last year with Debra.
